History


Bon Jovi is a United States rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi consists of vocalist namesake 'Jon Bon Jovi' (John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.), guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, Tico Torres drummer and bassist when Hugh McDonald [1]. The band's personnel remained largely viable throughout their history, except the departure of Alec John Such in 1994, unofficially replaced by Hugh McDonald, and the release of guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora in 2013. The band became famous for writing several songs- rock songs, and gained wide acclaim with their third album Slippery When Wet, released in 1986 followed by the success of their fourth album, New Jersey in 1988. After touring and recording non-stop during the 1980s, the band went on hiatus after New Jersey Tour in 1990, during which time Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora released a successful solo album. In 1992, Bon Jovi returned with Keep The Faith album. In 2000 they released their single "It's My Life", which follows a second hiatus, successfully introducing the band to a younger audience. Bon Jovi used different styles in their music, such as the song "contry" in 2007 on the album Lost Highway. The Circle album, was released on November 10, 2009 in the United States. March 12, 2013 Bon Jovi releases studio album What About Now.Throughout their career, the band has released 13 studio albums, three compilation albums and one live album, and has sold 130 million albums worldwide. They have performed over 2,700 concerts in more than 50 countries for more than 34 million fans, and were awarded the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. The band was also honored with the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004, and as a songwriter and collaborators Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were awarded the Songwriter Hall of Fame in 2009. On September 28, 2010, Bon Jovi was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but on December 15, 2010 it was announced that Bon Jovi did not make it .
